Justice and Obedience

Deuteronomy 5:1-3 NIV  Moses summoned all Israel and said: Hear, Israel, the decrees and laws I declare in your hearing today. Learn them and be sure to follow them.  (2)  The LORD our God made a covenant with us at Horeb.  (3)  It was not with our ancestors that the LORD made this covenant, but with us, with all of us who are alive here today.

Deuteronomy 5:1-3 NIV

Deuteronomy 10:12-13 NIV  And now, Israel, what does the LORD your God ask of you but to fear the LORD your God, to walk in obedience to him, to love him, to serve the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul,  (13)  and to observe the LORD’s commands and decrees that I am giving you today for your own good?

Deuteronomy 10:12-13 NIV

Deuteronomy 27:1-10 NIV  Moses and the elders of Israel commanded the people: “Keep all these commands that I give you today.  (2)  When you have crossed the Jordan into the land the LORD your God is giving you, set up some large stones and coat them with plaster.  (3)  Write on them all the words of this law when you have crossed over to enter the land the LORD your God is giving you, a land flowing with milk and honey, just as the LORD, the God of your ancestors, promised you.  (4)  And when you have crossed the Jordan, set up these stones on Mount Ebal, as I command you today, and coat them with plaster.  (5)  Build there an altar to the LORD your God, an altar of stones. Do not use any iron tool on them.  (6)  Build the altar of the LORD your God with fieldstones and offer burnt offerings on it to the LORD your God.  (7)  Sacrifice fellowship offerings there, eating them and rejoicing in the presence of the LORD your God.  (8)  And you shall write very clearly all the words of this law on these stones you have set up.”  (9)  Then Moses and the Levitical priests said to all Israel, “Be silent, Israel, and listen! You have now become the people of the LORD your God.  (10)  Obey the LORD your God and follow his commands and decrees that I give you today.”

Good News for All

International Sunday School November 28 2021 Fall #13

Acts 10:34-47 Then Peter began to speak: “I now realize how true it is that God does not show favoritism (35) but accepts from every nation the one who fears him and does what is right. (36) You know the message God sent to the people of Israel, announcing the good news of peace through Jesus Christ, who is Lord of all. (37) You know what has happened throughout the province of Judea, beginning in Galilee after the baptism that John preached– (38) how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and power, and how he went around doing good and healing all who were under the power of the devil, because God was with him. (39) “We are witnesses of everything he did in the country of the Jews and in Jerusalem. They killed him by hanging him on a cross, (40) but God raised him from the dead on the third day and caused him to be seen. (41) He was not seen by all the people, but by witnesses whom God had already chosen–by us who ate and drank with him after he rose from the dead. (42) He commanded us to preach to the people and to testify that he is the one whom God appointed as judge of the living and the dead. (43) All the prophets testify about him that everyone who believes in him receives forgiveness of sins through his name.” (44) While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit came on all who heard the message. (45) The circumcised believers who had come with Peter were astonished that the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out even on Gentiles. (46) For they heard them speaking in tongues and praising God. Then Peter said, (47) “Surely no one can stand in the way of their being baptized with water. They have received the Holy Spirit just as we have.”

Marriage of the Lamb

International Sunday School November 21 2021 Fall #12

Revelation 19:1-8 After this I heard what sounded like the roar of a great multitude in heaven shouting: “Hallelujah! Salvation and glory and power belong to our God, (2) for true and just are his judgments. He has condemned the great prostitute who corrupted the earth by her adulteries. He has avenged on her the blood of his servants.” (3) And again they shouted: “Hallelujah! The smoke from her goes up for ever and ever.” (4) The twenty-four elders and the four living creatures fell down and worshiped God, who was seated on the throne. And they cried: “Amen, Hallelujah!” (5) Then a voice came from the throne, saying: “Praise our God, all you his servants, you who fear him, both great and small!” (6) Then I heard what sounded like a great multitude, like the roar of rushing waters and like loud peals of thunder, shouting: “Hallelujah! For our Lord God Almighty reigns. (7) Let us rejoice and be glad and give him glory! For the wedding of the Lamb has come, and his bride has made herself ready. (8) Fine linen, bright and clean, was given her to wear.” (Fine linen stands for the righteous acts of God’s holy people.)

God of Power

International Sunday School November 14 2021 Fall Quarter #11

Revelation 11:15-19 NIV  The seventh angel sounded his trumpet, and there were loud voices in heaven, which said: “The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of his Messiah, and he will reign for ever and ever.”  (16)  And the twenty-four elders, who were seated on their thrones before God, fell on their faces and worshiped God,  (17)  saying: “We give thanks to you, Lord God Almighty, the One who is and who was, because you have taken your great power and have begun to reign.  (18)  The nations were angry, and your wrath has come. The time has come for judging the dead, and for rewarding your servants the prophets and your people who revere your name, both great and small— and for destroying those who destroy the earth.”  (19)  Then God’s temple in heaven was opened, and within his temple was seen the ark of his covenant. And there came flashes of lightning, rumblings, peals of thunder, an earthquake and a severe hailstorm.
