What to Do in Retirement

I retired from secular employment last Friday. I went to work when I was about 13-14 years old. That was back in the days when the rules were easier for hiring minors. Most of my adult life, I have worked a full-time job plus a side-gig. That is in addition to the ministry which I have NEVER considered a side-gig. It is what I am called to do. It is like brother, son, dad, pops, or uncle Donnie. The ministry is who I am — not what I do.

I have no intention of spending my last years watching re-runs. I have been promising the Lord that I would completely dedicate myself to His work when social security kicked-in. Here we are. That time is now. I am praying for direction. I know the Sunday School Lessons must continue. I know I must increase my biblical studies significantly. I am praying for directions for what else to do in the Lord’s work. Obedience is better than sacrifice.
