Called to Serve

International Sunday School March 3, 2019 Spring QTR #1

Luke 14:7-14  Now he told a parable to those who were invited, when he noticed how they chose the places of honor, saying to them,  (8)  “When you are invited by someone to a wedding feast, do not sit down in a place of honor, lest someone more distinguished than you be invited by him,  (9)  and he who invited you both will come and say to you, ‘Give your place to this person,’ and then you will begin with shame to take the lowest place.  (10)  But when you are invited, go and sit in the lowest place, so that when your host comes he may say to you, ‘Friend, move up higher.’ Then you will be honored in the presence of all who sit at table with you.  (11)  For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.”  (12)  He said also to the man who had invited him, “When you give a dinner or a banquet, do not invite your friends or your brothers or your relatives or rich neighbors, lest they also invite you in return and you be repaid.  (13)  But when you give a feast, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind,  (14)  and you will be blessed, because they cannot repay you. For you will be repaid at the resurrection of the just.”

Our Rescuing God

Psalms 91:1-8  He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty.  (2)  I will say to the LORD, “My refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.”  (3)  For he will deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the deadly pestilence.  (4)  He will cover you with his pinions, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness is a shield and buckler.  (5)  You will not fear the terror of the night, nor the arrow that flies by day,  (6)  nor the pestilence that stalks in darkness, nor the destruction that wastes at noonday.  (7)  A thousand may fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not come near you.  (8)  You will only look with your eyes and see the recompense of the wicked.

Psalms 91:11-16  For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways.  (12)  On their hands they will bear you up, lest you strike your foot against a stone.  (13)  You will tread on the lion and the adder; the young lion and the serpent you will trample underfoot.  (14)  “Because he holds fast to me in love, I will deliver him; I will protect him, because he knows my name.  (15)  When he calls to me, I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will rescue him and honor him.  (16)  With long life I will satisfy him and show him my salvation.”

Our Mighty God

International Sunday School Lesson February 17, 2019 Winter #12

Psalms 66:1-9 To the choirmaster. A Song. A Psalm. Shout for joy to God, all the earth; (2) sing the glory of his name; give to him glorious praise! (3) Say to God, “How awesome are your deeds! So great is your power that your enemies come cringing to you. (4) All the earth worships you and sings praises to you; they sing praises to your name.” Selah. (5) Come and see what God has done: he is awesome in his deeds toward the children of man. (6) He turned the sea into dry land; they passed through the river on foot. There did we rejoice in him, (7) who rules by his might forever, whose eyes keep watch on the nations– let not the rebellious exalt themselves. Selah. (8) Bless our God, O peoples; let the sound of his praise be heard, (9) who has kept our soul among the living and has not let our feet slip.

Psalms 66:16-20 Come and hear, all you who fear God, and I will tell what he has done for my soul. (17) I cried to him with my mouth, and high praise was on my tongue. (18) If I had cherished iniquity in my heart, the Lord would not have listened. (19) But truly God has listened; he has attended to the voice of my prayer. (20) Blessed be God, because he has not rejected my prayer or removed his steadfast love from me!

Our Loving God

International Sunday School February 10, 2019 Winter Quarter #11

Psalms 48:1-3  A Song. A Psalm of the Sons of Korah. Great is the LORD and greatly to be praised in the city of our God! His holy mountain,  (2)  beautiful in elevation, is the joy of all the earth, Mount Zion, in the far north, the city of the great King.  (3)  Within her citadels God has made himself known as a fortress.

Psalms 48:9-14  We have thought on your steadfast love, O God, in the midst of your temple.  (10)  As your name, O God, so your praise reaches to the ends of the earth. Your right hand is filled with righteousness.  (11)  Let Mount Zion be glad! Let the daughters of Judah rejoice because of your judgments!  (12)  Walk about Zion, go around her, number her towers,  (13)  consider well her ramparts, go through her citadels, that you may tell the next generation  (14)  that this is God, our God forever and ever. He will guide us forever.
