Local Church Houses Living Miracleby Brother Donnie Bryson Originally printed in the Lookout Valley InformerValley Memorial Baptist Church, 614 Browns Ferry Road, opened its doors to the husband and wife duo, The Keys for Christ, during the Southern Gospel Music Fanfare, March 21st through the 25th at the Trade and Convention Center. The duo, Wanda and Tony Key, travel across the country and normally stay in hotels. Tony Key states that the down-home accommodations offered by Valley Memorial were a welcomed relief to impersonal hotel rooms. Wanda Key has been singing gospel music all of her life. However, in the 1980s, the opportunity opened to make good money singing country music. She felt that she had to accept the offer although she wrestled often about it. In 1985, Wanda was pregnant with twin boys. There were complications in the pregnancy and only one child survived with the aid of emergency surgery. Wanda aspirated during that surgery and was clinically dead for a full nine minutes. Wanda states that she talked to the Lord during those nine minutes and committed to sing the Gospel across the country. She has kept her word. The Keys for Christ have been on the road for the last sixteen years and have played 250 dates this last year. Abraham told the rich man in hell, "If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead", but that was the rich man’s brothers would not hear. Thank God, some folks will actually listen to someone raised from the dead. Over 21 people have accepted Christ during the last four months of the Keys ministry. You can hear Wanda’s full testimony and the Keys for Christ’s latest single, Covered by the Cross, and Sunday, April 30, at 5:30 PM on the Gospel Mailbox broadcast on WFLI 1070 AM. |
